Mid-Term Rage

There is nothing nothing I love more than spending inordinate amounts of time at work. The only thing I love more than that is spending inordinate amounts of time at work and not get anything done. Oh I have been plenty productive. I spend my day and nights mind you toiling away trying to hack my way through the impenetrable monolith that is my workload. Then I get sent on happy missions across campus to spend three hours filming a lecture for Delta Airlines with 20 minutes notice. Because I have that kind of time.

Highlights include the Wade Davis lecture. The stuff this guy knows is ridiculous, and his lectures are always exceptional. Happy Hour also went well, the speaker Aaron Poochigian, Professor of Classics, was a riot, refreshing, and raunchy. It's just what that crowd needed. Next month, my good friend Hector. I just hope he's not doing a powerpoint presentation.

Confutati went over well, I received nothing but praise for my design. I feel like maybe I cheated with that one since the, er, important graphics were stock illustrations. But dammit, I worked hard to get that to look just right. The original poster file is 17MB for hell's sake, I had to do a lot of masking to make it glow like that!

Lyceum program is out the door, I hope campus marketing isn't mad that I changed the color slightly from kool-aid orange to a lovely dandelion, I think they'll deal. I think it turned out well. Not a typographicly sound as I wanted, but I ran out of time.

Speaking of typographically sound, I did a poster for Chinese Cultural Week that I am very proud of, image later. The whole identity for that is going to be so neat. MarComm did some excellent graphics for the banners that I'll use on the website along with the stuff I did.

Well, enough design rant, I am sleepy and need to prepare for the battle that rages in the Dean's Office.

Oh for Yoda's sake...

This from the fine folks at io9.com

Now, I'm all for progressing a medium, such as computer animation, and god knows I'm like the biggest Star Wars fan girl out there, but why WHY the preoccupation with the Clone Wars? It's not that interesting, we know what the end outcome is, and why the hell can't we see something like Luke establishing the new Jedi temple on Yavin IV or something? It's infinitely more interesting, not to mention actually progresses the story instead of rehashing the same stuff over and over and over...

New Stuff

New blog! I think I'll keep up with this one... It makes more sense for me to be doing this than trying to keep up with static google pages. New post on my IS page, nothin special, really just a post saying I'm posting here now and directing the previous posts to the old page. What was I thinking... Oh well.
